Winter weather arrangements

In the event of heavy snow, we will endeavour to keep the school open.

All children are to use either the Heath Road entrance ( and come directly into school using the double doors into the library area) or the Chiltern Gardens entrance (and come into school using the doors by the school office).

Children should ……

  • Come in Snow boots or Wellingtons – don’t forget hat, scarf and gloves. We will be going outside to make to most of the snow
  • Bring a change of shoes and clothes (jogging bottoms are a good idea)

If driving conditions deteriorate severely during the day we will text you to arrange for you to collect your child early. After School Club will be closed.

In the unlikely event of the school having to close ……

  • A text will be sent to all parents  by 7.30am.
  • A message will  be placed on the Heathwood School website and facebook pages by 7.30 am
  • Central Bedfordshire Council has an ‘SOS’ information service where parents are able to sign up to receive important information about school closures due to adverse weather.  To register for the service visit https://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/info/95/schools_portal/569/online_resources    Click on 'link'  to register for updates.
  • Please listen to Three Counties or Heart Radio for information
  • All learning will be accessible from the school Padlet:
  •  Heathwood Padlet
