School Lunches
In 2014, as the Government launched Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM), Heathwood launched it’s ‘in house’ school lunches. School lunches are prepared on the premises daily and there is a good choice of both first and second courses, including a vegetarian option. All our ingredients are sourced from local farms and suppliers. We are committed to providing healthy, appetising school lunches that meet the Government’s food based standards and have been awarded a Silver Food for Life Partnership award.
The price for school dinners has not been increased and is £2.30 per day / £11.50 per week £64.40 for Jan/ Feb Half Term for Years 3 and 4 only and should be paid for in advance weekly, half-termly or termly. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are free, because of Government funding.
The preferred option for payment is online to Heathwood Lower School NatWest account, sort code 60-02-13 account number 62411632 - please reference with your child’s name prefixed with SM. Alternatively, you can pay by cash (in a sealed envelope with child’s name), or cheques made payable to ‘Heathwood Lower School’.
All dinner money should be paid in advance please, preferably on a Monday morning.

Snacks
Children in Reception, and Years 1 and 2 are provided with a piece of fruit daily as part of the Government's ‘School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme’. As a school, we have decided to extend this scheme and provide a fresh fruit snack for Classes 3 and 4, paid for by us. Please do not send in any other snack.
If your child would like to have milk at school, you may purchase a 1/3 pint (189ml) carton of milk per day from ‘Cool Milk’ please see their website (www.coolmilk.com) for details on how to register.
Children are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle to school daily (plain water only please, NO juice or squash) - these can be refilled from a jug in each classroom (water fountains have been temporarily turned off). Heathwood water bottles can be purchased for £2 from the School Office.
