Fees and Funding

Nursery Education Funding for 3 and 4 year olds  

Since September 2010 all 3 and 4 year olds have the right to an early years education paid for by the government, and these children qualify for 15 hours of free early education in the term following their third birthday.

 Date of third birthday 

Government funded preschool sessions start from:  

 1 April – 31 August

Term 1 - September

1 September – 31 December

Term 2 - January

 1 January – 31 March 

Term 3 - April

30 hours free childcare

You may be able to get up to 30 hours free childcare (1,140 hours per year, which you can choose how you take).  If you’re eligible for the extra hours, you sign up online to get a code to give to your childcare provider to reserve your place. You’ll get the extra hours once the next term starts.

Funding for 2 Year Olds

Central Bedfordshire Council are currently offering funding for 2 year olds whose family circumstances meet certain criteria. If you think you might be eligible please contact them via email on customers@centralbedfordshire.gov.uk
